He is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Bill has a lot of experience geared towards offering treatment for a range of issues; from substance-use to anxiety to depression to trauma-processing. Bill champions emotional regulation and awareness, and effective communication and offers both in individual and group settings.
Bill has a wealth of experience working in residential treatment facilities. He spent a number of years working on the downtown East-side of Vancouver and has knowledge of cultural and economic factors that create barriers for many people. Bill also has personal experience with and understanding of addiction and recovery. Bill has training in and practices both Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (A.E.D.P.) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (E.M.D.R.), both aimed at trauma-processing and offering support and connection, and has trained in both specifically for addictions.
Bill also has personal experience with addiction and substance use. Struggling with avoiding and numbing dark feelings of emptiness and anger, and existential crises leading to feeling "stuck" and anxious. He found the way out, back to the light, and wishes to help others do the same.
Bill is also the Founder and Clinical Director of After the Storm Recovery Center in Baja California, Mexico. Opening at the beginning of 2024, After the Storm Recovery (Después de la Tormenta, in Spanish) is a residential, treatment facility (rehab). Very much aligned with the values of Hard Road Counselling, it is aimed at not just the addiction itself, but at healing the person and the root causes of addiction.
Offering a combination of a beautiful facility, an enchanting natural environment, and an intensive, 24-hour program built on learning, kindness, and compassion, After the Storm Recovery offers a unique opportunity to break the exhausting cycles of addiction."
